Cycling in the Flemish countryside

During the recent EU study abroad program in Brussels and Leuven, University of Windsor and University of Michigan students had an opportunity to do some sightseeing.

Cycling in the Flemish countryside

According to Professor Steve Brooks, the trip “included our annual cycling tour in the Flemish countryside.  After five very packed days of meetings in Brussels the students enjoyed the opportunity to get on a bicycle and see the landscape that Flemish painters have made famous. We cycled about 15 kilometers to a 14th century castle, the Kasteel van Horst, surrounded by a very wide moat.  We had lunch at a café that has been in continuous existence since the early 17th century and which is currently owned by the mayor of Rotselaar, who is also a Belgian senator.”
